Netairt: a DNS redirector
Introduction
|
Netairt is a module for the Apache Web server. Given a
replicated service (for example a replicated Web server), it
redirects clients to the replica closest to them. It does so by
turning Apache into a DNS server that provides custom responses
to name resolution queries.
Netairt is a part of the Globule Project.

FAQ
|
Why is this project called Netairt? I have no
idea. Michal just likes to call it that way. Ask him if you dare :-)

Screenshots
 |
Sorry, but there
is no way we can make a screenshot of a DNS server. But you may
want to try our online demo!

Beware: this is a very old, non-maintained
piece of software. Netairt is now part of the Globule software. Globule provides
redirection (of course), as well as sophisticated Web
replication features. But it is also usable as a stand-alone
redirector! We strongly recommend that you use Globule rather
than Netairt.

NetAirt requires
that the source code of Apache be slightly
modified to support UDP datagrams. We release two versions:
|
|
NetAirt has been tested on Linux only. Try running it on other
systems at your own risks :-)

|
You may want to have a look at the installation instructions.
